A cold treat on a hot summer day can be so refreshing, until a sharp pain attacks your head! If you’ve enjoyed an ice cream cone or slushy, you’ve probably experienced brain freeze at times. But what about your pup? Does Fido experience the same shooting pains in the head when he takes a few licks of your ice cream cone?

Here’s how to tell if a frozen treat bothers your dog, and what to do about it.

  • Barktober – Oct 4th (9am – 11am)
    Join for a free event to celebrate dogs and October. You and your canine companion can visit vendor booths, participate in giveaways, and enjoy different activities during the event..

  • Let’s Pawty Halloween Event – Oct 4th (2pm - 5pm)

    Enjoy the golden pre-autumn vibes at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and share the joy with your fluffy art enthusiast! Meet at Mia is a summer series that creates a space for Twin Citians to meet and enjoy the outdoors with unique activities made to awaken the artist within.

  • LollaPAWlooza - Oct 4th (3pm - 7pm)
    Join the fun fall pet market for an afternoon of free tasting from local breweries and wineries, great food, and more. Pets must be on leash and show proper manners. The major outdoor event will feature vendors, animal rescues, and more. At entry, you will have to prove your dog has received full vaccination.

  • Blessing of the Animals at St Paul’s Monastery - Oct 4th (10:30am - 11:30 am)

    Celebrate all creatures, large or small, at a heartwarming Blessing of the Animals. The spacious garden courtyard welcomes all beloved pets, whether they bark, purr, chirp, or slither. All animals will receive a special blessing, honoring the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. They will also receive a Benedictine medal and a St. Paul’s Monastery bandana.

  • Woo Woo Pawlooza – Oct 5th (10am – 2pm)

    The annual fundraising event held by Adopt a Husky will start with a hike around the beautiful Lakefront Park at Prior Lake. During the event, pet parents can visit vendor booths and engage in a silent auction. All registered attendees who raise or donate $60 or more will receive a T-shirt, lunch, and goody bag.
